Biogas
What is Biogas?
Biogas is a renewable energy source created by breaking down organic materials. This process is called fermentation and takes place in so-called biogas plants. In these plants, various organic substances such as plant residues, food waste or liquid manure are broken down in special fermentation tanks in the absence of oxygen.
During the fermentation process, microorganisms enzymatically convert the organic materials, producing methane gas (CH4) and an agricultural fertilizer called digestate. The resulting methane gas is collected and can be used as biogas. It can be used to generate electricity and heat, or processed to be used as fuel in vehicles.
Benefits of Biogas
The use of biogas as an energy source offers many advantages. First, biogas is a carbon-neutral energy source, as the methane gas released during degradation would normally escape into the atmosphere where it can act as a greenhouse gas. By using the biogas, however, this methane gas is used to generate energy and thus harmful emissions are avoided.
Second, biogas is a stable and reliable source of energy. Unlike other renewable energies such as wind or sun, which depend on weather conditions, biogas can be produced continuously. This enables a constant supply of electricity and heat.
In addition, biogas also supports the regional economy and agriculture, as the organic materials from the area can be used. This promotes sustainability and reduces the need for imported energy sources.
Our Offer in Biogas
Salubris has been active worldwide for approximately 20 years in the international renewable energy markets, especially biodiesel and biogas.
We participated in the implementation of projects in Austria, Spain, Greece, Hungary, Australia and Serbia.
Together with our partners we have been working with more than 2000 clients on very different projects and our partners built about 300 plants!
We work as consultants in finding the optimal technology for our clients‘ needs. Therefor we cooperate with several technology- and service-suppliers in Germany and Austria.
We make calculations when preparing new biogas stations or proposals for improving existing stations:
Economic efficiency calculation
Cost determination
Creation of an energy balance
Planning your biogas plant according to your personal ideas
Support with approval procedures
Financing proposals
Identification of funding opportunities
Construction tender
Construction support
Assistance with self-construction
Optimization of existing biogas plants
Locate and resolve problems
We have partners who can evaluate substrates in terms of their chemical and biological properties and expected energy yield in biogas plants.
However, we can also help with the renovation and modernisation of already existing facilities in order to bring them to the latest technological level and to increase their efficiency and profitability.
We cooperate with several producers of biogas technology who have extensive experience in European markets. Salubris exclusively represents two of them in Slovakia, PPM and Green Energy Max Zintl GmbH (Germany).
We also represent an Austrian company that specializes in the construction of compact, highly efficient modules for converting biogas into biomethane.
In some cases, we could even support clients in financing, while we have contacts with investors who want to invest in biogas plants.
